OMDR FAQ's

Online Membership and Data Reporting is the National PTA's new online membership roster program. The objective of this page is to provide a list of OMDR resources and answer some of the most common questions.

Is OMDR required to be used?

Yes. OMDR use is being mandated by National PTA as part of their initiative to meet IRS guidelines as well as providing better service to PTA members.

What happens if we don't use it?

Tony Soprano won't visit you, but it is in all our best interests to have as many units as possible use OMDR for their membership. As of October 2006 there are no penalty's to units who do not use OMDR, but in the future this may change with OMDR usage being required to receive recognitions or to be units in good standing or exemplarily units.

You should also keep in mind that next year, members can be renewed instead of entirely rekeyed so entering members this year reduces the burden on next year's membership chairperson.

Many of our members do not want to provide their address. How do I enter them?

OMDR requires that a valid street address be entered for each member. You should encourage members to provide this information and assure them PTA will not disclose this to other organizations or use it for mailing promotional material they do not sign up for. If they still do not want to provide this information, you can use the school's mailing address. National PTA realizes that many addresses will be school addresses.

I don't have my username and password; how do I get it?

Contact Tami Loving, State membership Chair, for assistance in accessing OMDR.

Do I have to stop using Excel for my membership list?

No! if you are using Excel to maintain your membership list because its convenient to you, you can continue to do so. OMDR allows you to upload your Excel spreadsheet to OMDR so that you don't have to rekey any of the membership information. You will need to format your Excel spreadsheet into the columns and size required by OMDR however.
